In 2022, Maisha achieved MA:Distinction in Choreography and Professional Practices, from Salford University. Her research focused on the concept of finding home in the body through movement from immigrant and diaspora perspectives. As a visionary choreographer, she continued to create access spotlighting Manchester creatives with her ensemble work, "HEARTH," for Contact Theatre in 2023.

 

Maisha's commitment to cultural empowerment and dance facilitation is evident through her work with The Royal Exchange Theatre, Afrocats MCR and The BAME Project in Bury in conjunction with Whitworth Art Gallery and The Met Theatre.

 

Looking ahead, Maisha Kungu's dedication to dance remains unwavering as she plans to pursue a Practice-based Research Ph.D. in London in 2024. Her work is marked by a profound understanding of the significance of high energy, joy as a form of rebellion, and ancestral well-being practices, while also emphasizing the importance of colorscapes, scenography, and audience interaction in all her creations.
